A fisher family turned towards tourism when started the paid holidays. (1936).
Julien Gros a sea fisherman started summer seasons in boat trips on sea and spent his three quarter time of the year , fishing.
Over time and through the evolution of the seaside resort (Le Grau du Roi), his son in law will take over and later, his grandson will make this activity more than seasonal.
1936: acquisition of a customs yacht that will be used as a sea boat trip (« Le Normandie »)
1950: a new boat: it was built in Aigues-Mortes Fister yard for a capacity of 40 persons and was called « Providence »; it will be the first of a long line.
1960: construction of a bigger boat for a capacity of 90 persons, it was also built in the Fister yard.
1974: Construction of a new type of boat in composite materials for a capacity of 125 persons in the « Allemand » yard, Grau d’Agde. It was drawn by the navy architect André Mauric.
1998: « Providence » the last generation was extended to the Allemand yard. Its capacity remains 125 persons for 22meters long.
2010: Birth of the Maxi Catamaran, LE PROVIDENCE.
